The flagship Spanish site – with 6,000sq m of spa and wellness facilities – is known for the SHA Method, a holistic approach that blends cutting-edge preventive, genetic and anti-ageing medicine with natural therapies and macrobiotics.
According to SHA, the World Health Organisation has defined health as the state of mental, physical, emotional, social, spiritual and sexual wellness in all areas of human activity. Inspired by this, the brand has unveiled a new facility dedicated to studying sexual function and wellness.
“Sexual wellness is a manifestation of our general state of health,” said Cynthia Molina, a psychologist at SHA and head of the new service.
“At SHA, we work to optimise overall health, and, thus, sexual function. From now on, we’ll proactively ask all our patients about their level of satisfaction, activity or inactivity regarding sexual health.”
SHA says the facility will address sexual health with a multidisciplinary approach to optimise the foundations on which desire, self-esteem and sexual function are built.
“Hormonal balance affects various functions of human activity, not only sexual activity but also our cardiovascular and digestive systems. Our unit will work to restore balance and improve sexual wellness,” explained Molina.
SHA hopes the clinic will help educate guests and teach them to take a proactive approach to their sexual health while breaking down taboos surrounding the subject.
All facility visitors will undergo an initial consultation with Molina to assess physical, emotional and mental health.
Results will then inform which diagnostic tests are recommended – including blood tests, mammograms, transvaginal ultrasounds or genetic testing.
“From there, we’ll also make an initial diagnosis about where to refer the patient to the rest of the disciplines, including Gynaecology, Urology, Regenerative Medicine or Aesthetic Gynaecology,” Molina added.
Global aspirations
The next 12 months is set to be a milestone year for SHA as it prepares to open its first international outpost in Mexico.
In early 2024, the brand plans to open a second site, SHA Mexico, in Costa Mujeres – a secluded beach destination just north of Cancun.
This will be followed by SHA Emirates, a forest resort in the middle of the UAE in 2025.
“We’re always on the lookout for new opportunities and our overall aim is to have a SHA on every continent in the next 10 years,” said Alejandro Bataller, SHA vice president.
