A one-stop wellness center in Geneva is redefining how communities in the Finger Lakes access mental health and substance use care. FLACRA’s Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), located at 116 Lewis Street, now offers expanded services including 24/7 crisis support, opioid treatment, and integrated physical and behavioral healthcare.
The nonprofit organization, formally known as Finger Lakes Area Counseling and Recovery Agency, announced in a recent newsletter that its Geneva clinic—and others in Penn Yan and Rochester—are equipped to serve adults, youth, and children as young as five. The focus: providing person-centered care to those facing serious mental illness, emotional disturbance, or substance use disorders.
FLACRA’s approach is rooted in accessibility and flexibility. “We are using a low-threshold, harm reduction approach,” the newsletter stated. The clinic offers same-day access, a full suite of counseling and psychiatric services, peer and family support, and care tailored by licensed professionals.
Key offerings include medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), such as Methadone, as part of FLACRA’s Opioid Treatment Program. Designed to remove barriers, the program features flexible hours and take-home options to accommodate patient needs.
The Geneva CCBHC also supports veterans and military personnel with intensive mental health care, while providing targeted case management, psychiatric rehab, and wellness screenings for the general population. The goal is to treat the whole person through a single point of care.
FLACRA, founded in 1973, serves the broader Finger Lakes region and operates with over 500 employees. Its services extend beyond the clinic to mobile crisis intervention, residential programs, and recovery community outreach.
“At FLACRA, we believe that chemical dependency is not a moral failing—it’s a treatable disease,” the organization said. “Recovery isn’t just about treatment—it’s about connection, dignity, and hope.”
