If you’ve been putting off a doctor’s visit due to cost, insurance issues, or not knowing where to go — Ashland’s Health and Wellness Center could be exactly what you’ve been looking for.
Located on 309 Arthur St., the center is part of Third Street Family Health Services, a federally qualified health center (FQHC) committed to providing care regardless of a person’s ability to pay.
“As a community health center, we take you, we see you, regardless of your ability to pay,” Trevor Downing, physician’s assistant said.

“If you have private or commercial insurance, we see you just like a normal office would. If you have Medicaid or Medicare, we see you just like another office would. But that niche is, if you don’t have insurance, we base all of your services off of a slide fee scale.”
Downing, graduate of Ashland university and current resident of the town, recently joined the Ashland office after practicing at Third Street’s Mansfield location and other underserved health centers. He’s joined by family nurse practitioner Mallory Humphrey, who brings experience in primary care, women’s health, and hepatitis C treatment.
“I specialize in family practice, which means I provide primary care for any age — young children, adolescents, adults and the geriatric population,” Humphrey said.

Between them, the team offers full-spectrum primary care, including wellness visits, immunizations, chronic condition management, physicals, and mental health support. They’re also licensed to provide women’s health services like Pap smears and well-woman exams.
MAT, or medication-assisted treatment, is overarching term for the wide range of addiction services provided at the Ashland location
“We have Suboxone. We have the long-acting injections. All provided here in office,” Downing said.
Ashland Health & Wellness, and Third St. as a whole, is willing to provide this bulk amount of services as specialists aren’t always available. The Ashland office is open five days a week and works closely with Third Street’s other regional clinics.
“It kind of helps close that gap of health care and the fear of costs… so patients can get the preventative health care they need and deserve, without fearing what it’s going to cost,” Humphrey said.
Both Downing and Humphrey are currently accepting new patients. Interested in what Ashland Health & Wellness has to offer? Visit their website or call 567-217-7778.
